Some stories set the world on fire. And these ones are the most popular online stories from the past seven days, clicked on by Sun readers like you.

Here are our top stories:

No Frills blocks customer from bringing cart into self-checkout

One of Loblaw’s stores – No Frills, this time – has been called out for its latest policy (which is a break from it usually backlash of perceived overpricing).

A customer reached out to the Toronto Sun to reveal that carts were no longer allowed in the self-checkout area at his local No Frills store, Denette Wilford reported.

An employee explained it was a new policy by Loblaw, forcing him to move to one of the two checkout lanes that were open, which he wasn’t happy about.

Note to shoppers: even if you have a small amount of items in your cart, you know to line up. And hey, there may be a chance the employee will help you bag your groceries. (Ha, fat chance.)

Gregoire Trudeau ‘re-partnered’ months before separation announced: Report

Not since 2014 has a breakup word made such an impact.

But like Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin’s “conscious uncoupling,” it has been reported that Sophie Gregoire Trudeau has “re-partnered” with an Ottawa doctor.

That said, the Postmedia report by Glen McGregor claimed Gregoire Trudeau’s marriage to Justin Trudeau may have been over long before it was announced in August.

A petition filed at the end of April showed a woman named Ana Remonda alleged her husband Dr. Marcos Bettolli had “re-partnered with a high-profile individual who attracts significant media attention and presents significant security considerations.”

MAMA MIA! Italian sports influencer Maria Arreghini targeting Paige Spiranac, others

Italy’s top sports influencer, Maria Arreghini, is coming after other sexy social media mavens like Paige Spiranac after her growing fan base has begged her to start an OnlyFans page, Brad Hunter reported.

But Spiranac need not panic yet.

Arreghini – who is host of her own TV show where she covers football, boxing and other sports – boasts more than 646,000 Instagram followers.

Not too shabby but nowhere close to Paige, the top golf influencer who has nearly four million followers.

But let’s not pit these two stunners against one another. There’s more than enough social media space for the both of them. The more, the merrier!

SIMMONS: ‘Every day is a fight’ for former Maple Leafs player Barry Melrose

For 46 years, Kelvington, Sask. native Barry Melrose made his living in and around professional hockey — as a player, coach and broadcaster.

That all changed about three years ago and felt something was off; the simple pleasures in life were suddenly not-so-simple and no longer enjoyable.

Because that’s the thing with Parkinson’s Disease – it has a mind of its own.

But Melrose told Steve Simmons that he feels “fortunate” – maybe the last words you would expect from someone with Parkinson’s, but he realized that other people are dealing with a lot worse.

“You just keep battling and you hope something will happen, something will get better,” the 67-year-old said.

“It hasn’t gotten worse. I think it’s gotten better. That’s the fight. Every day is a fight.”

What a fighter.

WARMINGTON: Jewish businesses in city targeted like in Berlin during 1930s

There have been many pro-Palestinian demonstrations happening in the GTA but some protesters took it too far, deriding a Toronto restaurant with Jewish roots, heckling diners and calling for a boycott of the eatery.

Joe Warmington compared the actions to what transpired in Germany, starting in 1933, when the Nazis’ organized a boycott of businesses in the cities and small towns.

Toronto should not tolerate anything of this nature in 2023 but so far, the city is tolerating all of it.
