Toronto Raptors star Scottie Barnes is collaborating on a new condo development project in the city.
Originate Developments and its partner, Harlo Capital, are announcing a collaboration with the professional basketball player and Bowlway by Scottie purveyor. The project involves an 18-storey mixed-use development situated between Toronto’s vibrant King West and Queen West neighborhoods, known as Reside on Richmond.
Scottie Barnes, the NBA star, proud Toronto resident, and 2021-2022 Rookie of the Year, is not only lending his name to the project but also is, apparently, actively contributing his vision to it. Barnes is said to be involved in designing the “state-of-the-art sports simulator room” that will provide cutting-edge facilities for residents to play and train, reflecting his passion for innovation and commitment to the community.
“I love Toronto, the diversity it offers and the sense of community it brings, and I am thrilled to team with Originate Developments and Harlo Capital on the Reside on Richmond project.” says Scottie Barnes. “As an athlete, I am always seeking new ways to innovate, and this collaboration allows me to bring that energy to creating a space that can truly inspire the residents. I am especially excited about designing the state of the arts sports stimulator room where residents can play, train and stay active. Together we are building something incredible for the community and I can’t wait to see it all come to life.”

The development at 627 Richmond St W, on the southwest corner of Bathurst St and Richmond St. will feature a restored heritage façade and roofline at grade, topped by a contemporary tower, blending the old and new in a cohesive manner.
The project features a commercial frontage along Bathurst Street, with a six-storey podium that enhances the streetscape’s vibrancy. A corner retail space reimagines an existing heritage building on site, incorporating a mezzanine level that’s intended for a combination restaurant and boutique grocer.
Reside on Richmond will boast three levels of meticulously designed amenities, including a party room, games room, co-working space with private meeting rooms, gym, yoga studio, and more, all aimed at enhancing residents’ daily lifestyle and encouraging a sense of community.
The rooftop will feature a creative installation, transforming the usual mechanical unit into an architectural feature with visually intriguing elements, providing intimate and private gathering spaces for residents to enjoy.
Barnes is hardly the first celebrity to tack his name onto a condo project and he won’t be the last. But, at least it’s nice that the budding superstar is investing in the local economy and making himself at home. Hopefully that means he’ll be here to lead the team for years to come.
