If you’ve been on the subway in downtown Toronto hours before a Maple Leafs home game and you think you’ve spied William Nylander riding with you, it’s because it really was him.

A day after a photo of Nylander on the TTC went viral, the star winger said it has become habit for him to take public transit on game days.
“This season, I’ve taken the subway every game except for one,” Nylander said after practice on Thursday. “It depends on traffic.”
And yes, Nylander does get noticed, for the most part.
“People come up and ask for pictures or say hi, but they don’t really bother me,” Nylander said. “Everybody’s very nice.”
In the shot of Nylander on the subway on Wednesday, he’s sitting beside a man wearing a Leafs hat. It didn’t sound like he recognized Nylander, who was bundled up in a puffy winter coat.
“I did see that guy wearing a Leafs hat and I thought it was funny sitting down next to him,” Nylander said.
